Free day in Washington state in honor of Veterans Day

Washington state parks have no visit or parking fees Nov 11.
OLYMPIA, Wash. — Visit Washington state parks on Tuesday, November 11 and receive free admission.

In honor of Veterans Day visitors can forego purchasing a Discovery Pass to visit or park.

When the Discover Pass was created to collect money to support state parks, the Washington State Legislature decided there would be up to 12 free days a year when a pass would not be required to visit state parks.

In 2014 Washington state provided 10 no-fee days in the state's parks:
  1. January 19 and 20 – In honor of Martin Luther King Day
  2. March 19 – In honor of Washington State Parks' 101st birthday
  3. April 19 – A spring Saturday free day
  4. April 22 – Earth Day
  5. May 10 – A spring Saturday free day
  6. June 7 and 8 – In honor of National Trails Day and WDFW Free Fishing Weekend
  7. June 14 – National Get Outdoors Day
  8. August 25 – In honor of National Park Service’s birthday
  9. September 27 –National Public Lands Day
  10. November 11 – Veteran's Day weekend
